چکیده

This study evaluated the spatial distribution of groundwater potential zones in Kabul Province, Afghanistan using geospatial multi-influencing factor approach. The influencing parameters employed for assessment were land slope, geology, soil type, use/land cover, lineament density, rainfall, and drainage density. subclasses within each parameter subdivided based on their influence as major, minor, no effect, subsequently assigned a score value. combined value these was used calculating relative weights. delineated classified four groups, i.e., poor, moderate, good, very good. results revealed that with good covered an area 355 km2 (2% total area), 1524 (20%), moderate 2251 (73%), poor 477 (5%). concluded geospatial-assisted approach useful efficient technique can be effectively to enhance conceptual understanding resources Basin, Afghanistan.

Demarcation of Groundwater Prospective Zones in Humid Tropical River Basin: A Geospatial Approach

Groundwater, being a vital resource, needs to be developed with proper understanding about its occurrence in time and space. Unscientific sand mining is a dominant environmental issue in this humid tropical river basin namely Bharathapuzha river basin geographically on central part of Kerala state, southwest part of India. The sandy layers along the river course declines its water holding capac...

Factors influencing groundwater quality: towards an integrated management approach.

The safety of groundwater resources is a serious issue, particularly when these resources are the main source of water for drinking, irrigation and industrial use in coastal areas. In Italy, 85% of the water used by the public is of underground origin. The aim of this report is to analyze the main factors that make groundwater vulnerable. Soil characteristics and filtration capacity can promote...

Spatial analysis of rural groundwater resources in order to identify critical zones (Case study: Mahidasht watershed in Kermanshah province, Iran)

Introduction According to the theoretical frameworks in the spatial analysis, every "structure" in space has a specific "function". To study phenomena and to identify the relationships between them, these two concepts are of particular importance, especially in the "structural-functional dynamism" approach. The basic premise of this approach is based on the existence of a link between the stru...
